Mechanical Fitting Services — Offshore & Onshore

Mechanical/Plant Fitting is a field of mechanical engineering that deals with the maintenance of machines. The key aspect is to understand the interchangeability of mechanical parts. All machine parts are manufactured in such a manner that they are within the acceptable limit of tolerance (limits and fits).

BR Marine Energy Logistics specialises in taking care of all your mechanical fittings applying a cost-effective style of operations. We can help repair and re-pipe gas lines and water lines — whatever you need, our Fitters can help. Pipe fittings are attached to the end of pipes that allow them to change direction, control the flow, and change the diameter of the pipe.

Types of pipe fittings and their purposes:

  • Elbows: Used to change the angle or direction of the pipe run — most commonly in 90° and 45° turns.
  • Street Elbows: One end has male threads, the other female threads. Convenient in tight quarters.
  • Tee Fittings: Shaped like the letter T. Allows for branch lines.
  • Couplings: Used to join two straight pieces of pipe of the same diameter.
  • Reducers: Used to join pipes of different diameters, making a gradual change in diameter.
  • Bushings: Used to make the diameter of a pipe fitting smaller with an abrupt change, taking little space.
  • Unions: Used where pipes cannot be turned or when equipment may need to be removed for maintenance.
  • Adaptor Fittings: Used to change the end of a non-threaded pipe to male or female threads.
  • Caps: Used to close the end of a dead-end pipe.
  • Plugs: Used to close an ending on a pipe fitting normally used for inspection or cleanout.
  • Nipples: Short lengths of pipe threaded at both ends.
  • Wyes: Used primarily to gain inside access to DWV (drain-waste-vent) systems.
  • Valves: Devices that control the flow of liquid or gas — including compression, ball, sleeve-cartridge and ceramic disc valves.
